ISIS.2011
The ISIS 2008 in Amsterdam ended with a roundtable discussion that left a number of questions open, such as:
- Measuring the "depth" of defects
- Solutions for hot rolling, cold rolling and long products are available but not for slabs
- No significant improvement in performance (magic 86 %)
- Calibration and system checks
- Transfer of acquired data into the business processes
- Improved detection by learning from biology, no new products in recent years
Responding to these questions is the goal of the next ISIS.2011, which will likely take place near Düsseldorf. Manufacturers are strongly encouraged to answer them and best cases will again play a role as well. The plan is also to look into other sectors where the focus is on quality for strip products, for example in the paper, nonferrous metals or plastics industries.
Excellent Results: ISIS.ASIA 2010 in Wuhan, China, with about 160 participants
On March 4th and 5th, 2010, the international surface inspection community once again gathered for the International Surface Inspection Summit (ISIS). Taking place for the first time in Asia, about 160 participants came to Wuhan, China mainly from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, USA and Europe to discuss the current state of surface inspection. The accompanying exhibition, an evening boat tour on the Yangtze River and a visit to the WISCO plant in Wuhan created the ideal framework for building successful business relationships.
The presentations once again offered the already proven mix of scientific challenges and concrete solutions as in previous events. The program presented some highlights about surface inspection systems.
